Job Overview

The Yard Hand at Bennett is a key member of our fabrication support team, helping keep materials, tools, and equipment moving efficiently between the yard, shop, and field crews.

This role is hands-on and fast-paced, supporting tasks such as material loading and organization, yard maintenance and cleaning, pipe passivation, sandblasting, painting, and general fabrication prep.

The Yard Hand helps maintain an organized, safe, and well-run yard environment that directly supports Bennett's high standards for quality and reliability in water and wastewater infrastructure work. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to jump in wherever needed are essential to success in this role.

General Duties

• Support daily yard and fabrication shop operations
• Keep the yard and work areas clean, organized, and safe

Material Handling

• Load/unload trucks and move materials using forklifts and/or skidsteer
• Stage, organize, and store pipe, steel, and fittings
• Assist with preparing materials and tools for field crews

Shop & Fabrication Support

• Help with pipe passivation tasks
• Assist with sandblasting and painting work when required
• Support fabricators with basic prep tasks

Inventory & Equipment

• Track materials, consumables, and equipment coming in and out
• Maintain general yard equipment and report any issues
• Organize tools and prepare them for job deployment

Other Responsibilities

• Assist with shipping/receiving
• Perform general yard upkeep, waste removal, and snow clearing
• Carry out any additional tasks assigned by the Shop Supervisor

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
