This role involves preparing the worksite, handling and positioning heavy pipes, ensuring proper alignment and sealing, and supporting the overall efficiency of the construction crew. With a focus on safety, quality, and teamwork, the Pipelayer plays a key role in delivering essential infrastructure projects that support growing communities.PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:Responsibilities and DutiesInstalling underground pipes, manholes and hydrants needed by infrastructure projects. Pipes may be made of PVC, steel, clay, cast iron or concrete. Pipes are for electrical, water supply, sewerage and storm waterPerforms all installations with exceptional workmanshipCut and bevel pipe ends (PVC and Ductile Iron)Assemble and install shoring or trench cages in excavations as requiredEnsure that all open excavations, manholes, and equipment are adequately delineated and barricadedComplete work tasks within the trench to ensure pipe is laid to the proposed grade and alignmentMonitor granular backfilling and compaction of the pipe to ensure proper supportDig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching toolsGrade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand toolsComplete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentationComplete tasks similar in capabilities as directed by supervisorWorking ConditionsWork indoors and outdoors in rural and urban areasWorking on uneven ground in diverse weather conditionsExposure to asphalt and concrete dustWorking around and in close proximity to heavy equipmentPersonal ManagementLift and carry tools, equipment, supplies and materials (
