Duties

  • Prepare ingredients and assist in meal assembly according to established recipes and menu specifications
  • Execute food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, marinating, and portioning ingredients efficiently and accurately
  • Cook a variety of dishes with attention to detail, presentation, and quality standards, including fine dining cuisine when applicable
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering strictly to food safety protocols and sanitation guidelines
  • Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation techniques
  • Assist with catering orders and special event setups to ensure timely delivery of quality meals
  • Handle food with care, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and rotation to minimize waste
  • Serve dishes in a professional manner, supporting the front-of-house team during busy service periods when needed
  • Follow all kitchen safety procedures, including knife skills and proper handling of kitchen equipment

Experience

  • Prior experience in a restaurant or food service environment is highly desirable, especially in fine dining or catering settings
  • Demonstrated culinary experience with proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food handling practices
  • Knowledge of dietary department standards or dietary aide experience is a plus for understanding special dietary needs
  • Strong knife skills and familiarity with various cooking methods are essential for success in this role
  • Experience with menu planning or working within a food industry setting will be advantageous
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards
  • Excellent teamwork skills combined with a positive attitude toward serving customers and supporting colleagues
