Poultry Technician
Term: Permanent-Full Time
Location: Onsite - Lyn, ON
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Shift/Time: : Sunday – Thursday 8hr shifts; shift time TBD
Hourly Rate: $ /hr
Additional pay:
- Eligible for a flock performance bonus
- Eligible for 40 hours of paid sick days
This is a great opportunity for hands-on experience in egg farming. You will be working as part of an important team at the farm, to help prepare the birds and their barns to reach their full potential.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all required work safe practices. This would include but is not limited to: lock-out tag-out, PPE, confine space safety awareness, chemical safety, fall protection, etc.;
- Perform all tasks in accordance with company safety and GMP policies/guidelines;
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair high-speed manufacturing, packaging and facility equipment;
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, power supplies, drives, gages and test equipment;
- Make adjustment to equipment ensuring the proper performance and safe operating conditions;
- Assist maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting;
- Advise operators and line technicians of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components;
- Document and track all corrective and preventive maintenance performed, aiming to achieve maximum plant availability, with a target of zero unplanned downtime;
- Perform preventive maintenance functions as directed;
- Install equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications;
- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions;
- Install, start up and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements;
- Maintain cleanliness of work area;
- Support and help implement continuous process improvements;
- Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Technical Degree, Diploma or accredited apprenticeship program of the equivalent in a technical field;
- Three (3) year applicable experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, supervisors;
- Leadership experience
- Must be flexible with work hours and be able to work overtime when needed;
- Be on an on-call rotation.
WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
· Technical Associate's Degree or accredited apprenticeship (e.g. 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician, 442A Industrial Electrician, 447A Instrumentation and Control Technician, or 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright).
· 3-5 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
