Role Summary

We are seeking a senior, highly organized, and music industry experienced accounting professional to lead all accounting and royalty operations across our group of companies. This role will be responsible for the end-to-end financial infrastructure of our labels and catalogs including royalty processing, artist accounting, contract interpretation, financial reporting, and month-end close.

This is not a junior or support role. You will own the function.

You will act as the internal authority on royalties, recording agreements, and catalog accounting ensuring accuracy, transparency, compliance, and scalability as our business grows. You will work closely with leadership, A&R, Operations, and external partners to ensure our financial systems support both artist trust and business decision-making.

Curve experience and a strong understanding of the recorded music business are essential.

Duties & Responsibilities

Group Level Accounting Ownership

• Own all accounting operations across multiple labels and business entities
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and financial controls
• Prepare internal financial reports for leadership
• Ensure audit readiness and documentation integrity

Royalty & Artist Accounting Leadership

• Own the full royalty lifecycle: ingestion, processing, reconciliation, and reporting
• Lead all royalty operations using Curve as the core system
• Interpret recording agreements, royalty provisions, and participation structures
• Ensure correct treatment of advances, recoupment, splits, and revenue share models
• Prepare and distribute accurate, transparent royalty statements
• Serve as the escalation point for complex artist and partner inquiries

Catalog & Rights Financial Oversight

• Maintain accurate financial records for masters, publishing, and neighbouring rights
• Ensure revenue streams are properly mapped and reconciled
• Oversee metadata financial integrity (ISRCs, UPCs, catalog mapping, etc.)
• Identify and resolve discrepancies across DSPs, distributors, and internal systems

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Partner closely with A&R, Marketing, Legal, and Operations
• Translate deal terms into financial logic
• Ensure financial workflows align with how the business actually operates
• Help leadership make data-informed decisions around artist investments and catalog strategy

Process Improvement & Scaling

• Design and improve systems that can scale with growth
• Build documentation, SOPs, and internal controls
• Identify automation and workflow improvements
• Prepare the function for future hires and team expansion

Qualification & Skills

Required

• 5+ years of experience in music royalty accounting, label finance, or music industry accounting
• Deep, hands-on experience with Curve (non-negotiable)
• Strong understanding of:
• Recording agreements
• Royalty structures (masters, publishing, neighbouring rights)
• Advances, recoupment, profit shares, and revenue splits
• Experience owning month-end close and financial reporting
• Advanced spreadsheet skills (complex formulas, pivots, modeling, reconciliation logic)
• Experience working with cloud accounting platforms (Xero, QuickBooks, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to zoom out strategically
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Strongly Preferred

• Experience working at a label, distributor, or music rights company
• Familiarity with DSP reporting formats and revenue flows
• Experience supporting multiple business entities
• Experience building or redesigning financial systems
• Comfort working in fast-growing, ambiguous environments
