Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Fertilizer Merchant on a temporary 12-month basis on our Ag Solutions team.

This position is a remote opportunity with preference for candidates based in Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Calgary or Edmonton, or near our Fertilizer Terminals in Hanley, SK; Brandon, MB; or Grassy Lake, AB.

Are you an Ag professional looking to use your skills in supply chain and procurement? This position will provide you with the opportunity to excel in the fertilizer industry and put your skills to use by providing critical support to our Ag Solutions team and local Co-op retails.

What you'll do:

  • Support procurement and supplier management by contributing to marketing program development, facilitating forecasts and variance reports, and providing contract and account coverage support for the Fertilizer Merchant II. 
  • Collaborate with the Fertilizer Merchant II and Senior Manager to monitor contract execution, manage CRS exposure, and ensure adequate supply while optimizing manufacturer incentive programs.
  • Support CRS‑aligned strategy execution by conducting collaborative market research, leading monthly fertilizer market updates, and analyzing competitive, logistical, and pricing trends to provide informed recommendations to Local Co‑ops.
  • Provide coaching to Fertilizer Specialists and Customer Service Associates on fertilizer contracts while representing the team's vision and goals and continuously build industry and organizational expertise through collaboration with leaders and participation in Co-op visits and industry events.
  • Identify risks and opportunities in FCL's wholesale fertilizer business and provide informed recommendations to support annual business planning, budgeting, and quarterly reporting through comprehensive competitor and market analysis.

Who you'll work with:
The Team: You will work closely with a team of Fertilizer Merchants, Specialist and Customer Service Associates and will report into the Senior Manager, Fertilizer. This team strives to cultivate a culture of collaboration, support and customer service.

The Collaborators: You will work closely with other functions across the organization including the Crop Supplies Division, Local Co-ops and manufacturers/suppliers.

Our Agro team helps to feed and grow Western Canadian communities by sourcing and distributing products and services to local Co-ops in the feed, crop supplies and fertilizer business.

Who you are:
You are looking to expand your career in Retail Store Operations and:

  • Have 6-9 years of experience in a fertilizer sales and/or market analysis and asset utilization.
  • Have a University Degree in Commerce or Agriculture (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
