The Opportunity

The ODD Analyst will report to the Head of Operational Due Diligence and will work closely with members of the Investment Team and Risk & Compliance Team. The ideal candidate will have approximately 2 years' experience in fund administration, accounting, audit, financial operations, legal, compliance or policy analysis roles, with due diligence experience in alternatives investing considered an asset.

The role will involve two primary aspects:

  1. Researching business practices of investment managers, service providers and other stakeholders across a diversity of jurisdictions, complexities, maturities and other characteristics.
  2. Development of oversight and governance practices within the risk management function.

The ideal candidate will be creative and enthusiastic, at once highly detail-oriented and excellent at understanding various tactical and strategic contexts, highly professional in demeanor, with outstanding communications abilities (e.g., interviewing, presenting, writing) and sound judgement. Proficiency with data management will be a key component of the role, as will familiarity with best practices across a variety of functions (e.g., executive strategy, trade processing, cybersecurity).

Primary Responsibilities

Operational Due Diligence

  • Conduct operational due diligence on a wide spectrum of investment opportunities across asset classes such as public and private equity and credit in a variety of structures and jurisdictions.
  • Prepare supporting research and material for Prime Quadrant's Investment Team and contribute to decision-making.
  • Write reports based on analysis of business risk and internal controls.
  • Participate in meetings with third-party managers, service providers and stakeholders.
  • Acquire thorough knowledge of industry standards and best practices regarding business process design, operational effectiveness and efficiency.

Risk Management

  • Contribute to the enhancement of Prime Quadrant's business processes.
  • Maintain and enhance proprietary databases.
  • Design oversight procedures to pre-emptively identify investment or business-related risks.
  • Assist with investigations into risk incidents or violations of regulatory or legal requirements.

Qualifications

  • Strong academic background, with preference to degrees related to business. However, keen candidates with degrees from other fields with relevant professional experience will also be considered.
  • CFA, CAIA or other relevant investment-related designations will be considered an asset.
  • Canadian Exempt Market Dealing Representative certification expected to be obtained within one year of hiring.
  • 2 years of experience in fund administration, accounting, audit, financial operations, legal, compliance, policy analysis or due diligence roles in alternatives investing considered an asset.
  • Good understanding of a wide range of financial instruments as well common alternatives strategies and wealth management considered an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Salesforce and Addepar would be considered an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Willing to travel as required.
