We are seeking a Purchasing Team Lead who is responsible for overseeing daily purchasing activities and driving operational excellence within our growing medical device manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, regulated setting and is passionate about improving systems, processes, and supplier performance.

Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

Your Responsibilities Will Be To

  • Lead, mentor and conduct performance reviews for members of the Purchasing team
  • Identify resource requirements necessary for the purchasing team to meet all deliverables
  • Ensure inventory is maintained at planned target levels
  • Ensure suppliers are on target for meeting required manufacturing ramp volumes
  • Monitor and identify trends and drive continuous improvement of purchasing metrics
  • Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to improve supplier performance
  • Work with category managers to develop and implement inventory and cost reduction and supply risk mitigation strategies
  • Source new suppliers and support supplier qualification and onboarding and part approval processes
  • Act as the subject matter expert for the purchasing function and lead or support purchasing projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

You will be successful in this role because you possess these attributes:

  • A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience, ideally within the medical device or regulated manufacturing industry.
  • Minimum two years of team leadership or supervisory experience.
  • A proven track record in vendor management, negotiation, and performance improvement.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA QSR, and other relevant regulatory requirements (preferred).
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems, with demonstrated success in sourcing and implementing process improvements.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.

Compensation
Kardium has listed the total cash compensation range (base salary + 5% RRSP contribution) that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. For candidates with more or less experience than listed above, the pay range will be adjusted.

As a permanent employee, you will also participate in Kardium's stock option plan.

  • $93,000 – 127,000 (CAD Annually)
