The Site Manager plays a key role in the daily management of a construction site. They are responsible for supervising teams of workers and ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with plans and safety requirements. They are also responsible for field relations with the general contractor and other trades present on the site.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
Supervision and management of teams
- Supervise and direct workers: Ensure the management of teams in the field, by giving clear instructions on the tasks to be accomplished.
- Distribute tasks: Assign tasks based on the skills of the workers and the work plan.
- Participate in coordination meetings: Attend project coordination meetings organized and led by the general contractor or the project manager.
Monitoring the progress of work
- Verify compliance: Ensure that the work is carried out according to the plans, technical specifications, and on time.
- Evaluate progress: Monitor the progress of the worksite and implement corrective actions in the event of delays or problems.
- Produce monitoring reports: Regularly inform the project manager about the progress of the work.
- Manage completion deadlines: monitor and modify, in collaboration with the project manager, the work completion schedules and ensure compliance.
Ensure safety on the worksite
- Apply safety standards: Ensure that all safety rules are respected by workers, and that safety equipment (helmets, gloves, etc.) is used correctly.
- Train and raise awareness: Train new workers in good safety practices and organize regular meetings for the entire team (Tool box meeting).
Materials and equipment management
- Control stocks: Check the supply of materials and ensure that it is sufficient for the progress of the work.
- Equipment management: Ensure that the necessary equipment (machines, tools) is available, in good condition and well maintained.
Communication with stakeholders
- Reporting to management: Transmit information to management on needs, delays, and problems encountered.
- Interface with subcontractors: Coordinate subcontractor interventions and integrate them into general planning.
Quality control
- Check quality standards: Ensure that the work performed meets quality standards and customer requirements.
- Inspect finishes: Check the finish of the work to ensure that it complies with defined expectations and standards.
Problem solving
- Manage the unexpected: React quickly to unexpected events or technical obstacles, and propose solutions so as not to slow down the progress of the site.
- Prevent conflicts: Manage tensions or conflicts between workers and ensure a harmonious work environment.
In summary, the site manager is a central pivot for the smooth running of a project, combining technical, organizational and human skills. They ensure the management of teams and resources while respecting deadlines, quality and safety standards.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Diploma in building mechanics, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience in building automation.
- ASP Construction
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in site management, ideally on building automation projects or similar.
- In-depth knowledge of building management system installation and commissioning techniques, materials, safety standards and regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple teams and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- An ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders (clients, engineers, subcontractors) in both official languages.
- Use of project management tools such as MS Project, Procore, or similar.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Location: Construction site
- Hours: Flexible depending on the progress of the project.
- Environment: Exposure to weather conditions, noise, dust and other risks associated with construction sites.
