Edith Cavell Care Centre in Lethbridge is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Recreation Therapy Assistant for a casual position. This position requires someone who is flexible, creative, assistant and willing to take initiative to enhance resident's quality of life.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation Gerontology and experience in Therapeutic Recreation Gerontology preferred.
  • Good communication, computer and writing skill.
  • Be able to work as a team member.

Skills and abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the principles of therapeutic recreation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to teach and to lead recreation programs.
  • Ability to motivate residents and encourage independence.
  • Ability to incorporate a rehabilitative approach with residents.
  • Ability to problem-solve abilities and defuse situations effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • To have effective time management skills.
  • Organization skills for effective program management.
  • Positive and enthusiastic outlook.
  • Ability to validate, listen, problem solve and support resident and families.
  • Ability to operate equipment related to recreation programs.

Flexible hours as needed: Monday – Friday 8:00 – 4:00 and Weekends – Saturday 10:00 am to 3:30 pm

Start Date: ASAP

Please Note: The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal record check.

*This position would fall under the union collective agreement.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $17.66-$30.08 per hour
