Your Opportunity:

The Senior Advisor, Pharmacy Alberta provides expert leadership to advance the coordination, performance and continuous improvement of medication management across Alberta's health system. Reporting to the Executive Director, Programs and Standards, this role ensures pharmacy programs are aligned with provincial priorities in quality, system performance, capacity planning, and patient safety. The Senior Advisor will drive the quality agenda across Pharmacy Alberta and lead interdisciplinary medication management initiatives at a system level, fostering collaboration with Health Service Providers (HSP) and all Provincial Health Agencies. This position requires a deep understanding of interdependencies within the health system and the ability to anticipate long-term implications of decisions. The Senior Advisor develops innovative approaches to optimize operations, builds and maintains partnerships across government, health authorities, and professional bodies, adapts to emerging health priorities, and delivers measurable improvements in service quality at a provincial scale. Key Responsibilities: Lead system wide collaboration with HSP, professional associations, and regulatory bodies to integrate pharmacy services into health system planning. Advance quality improvement and innovation through audits, performance reviews, and change initiatives that enhance patient safety. Promote best practices in interdisciplinary medication management evaluating risks and supporting evidence informed approaches to improve the quality of care across the health system. Provide strategic leadership on system performance translating provincial priorities into actionable strategies and guiding large-scale quality initiatives. Coordinate capacity planning and implement sustainable models for pharmacy services that improve efficiency and system-wide quality.

Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree in a health care profession and/or registration with an Alberta Regulated Health Profession A minimum of 5 years experience in hospital practice environments ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity plus previous leadership experience. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Experience in managing change and developing innovative solutions to complex and diverse challenges. Recognized for strategic planning, policy development, and leading multifaceted projects. Proven ability to foster partnerships with internal and external leadership stakeholders
