The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has a broad mandate and is committed to maintaining and improving New Brunswick's public infrastructure.  The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure's mission is to contribute to New Brunswick's economy and quality of life by providing and supporting sustainable infrastructure that allows for the safe and efficient movement of people, goods and government services to the public.  Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.

What you will do

The Project Management Office is accountable for providing leadership and direction for all transportation major capital projects. The activities cover a broad range of subjects related to bridges, roads, culverts and other structures, relationships, both internal and external, and matter of strategic and tactical importance to the Department.

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • developing, maintaining and tracking project schedules, establishing timelines and milestones to ensure all deadlines and deliverables are met;
  • preparing cost estimates and working closely with project teams to build, monitor, and manage project budgets;
  • assessing the impact of scope, schedule, and budget changes, and preparing and implementing change orders and modifications;
  • monitoring project expenditures, analyzing cost variances, and recommending corrective actions to keep projects on track financially;
  • identifying potential risks to project timelines and budgets and developing risk-mitigation strategies and contingency plans;
  • participating in project progress review meetings with stakeholders.

  • Office location:  440 King Street, Fredericton.
  • Open office layout.
  • Standard hours of work:  Monday – Friday.

  • Some travel within the province will be required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business Administration with five (5) years of relevant experience in project controls or related roles with demonstrated experience with project management software and tools.
  • A recognized Project Management certification.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following assets:

  • proficiency in using project management software such as Clarity, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent;
  • experience and skills in applying industry best practices in project controls.

SALARY:

Pay Band 5: $2,574.00 to $3,595.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
