Position Scope 

Network Administrator provides primary operational support, management, and architectural change design of the production network environments. The incumbent is guided by defined goals and objectives and works under the general supervision of the Manager, VP of Technology and Operations.

In addition, employee will monitor and maintain the computer systems and networks in a technical support role. If there are any issues or changes required, such as forgotten passwords, viruses or email issues, the IT helpdesk will be the first point of contact.

Other tasks can include installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware/software faults and solving technical problems, either over the phone or face to face. Providing after-hours support and overnight maintenance duties are part of this role's responsibilities.

Main Objectives

· Ensures scheduled operational support activities result in minimal service disruptions to the business systems.

· Ensures security is maintained at an acceptable level and improved where necessary to ensure networks are running efficiently and to support business continuity.

· Provides backup to the Manager for the day-to-day supervision and administration.

Responsibilities

· Create processes for the implementation and maintenance of regularly scheduled operational support activities for firewalls, VPN, routers, switches, wireless hardware, and related network infrastructure, including configuration changes, optimization, patches, etc.; provide implementation support as required.

· Lead design efforts and implementation support for new network related initiatives.

· Conduct in-depth analysis of system networks to determine current and future utilization requirements; provide recommendations and input into capacity forecasting and planning, optimization and improvements.

· Research innovative approaches to reduce CapEx and OpEx.

· Manage large projects and initiatives, create and maintain project documentation, monitor project performance and resources.

· Provide expert technical guidance for the resolution of issues and strategic design.

· Handle/facilitate escalations by thoroughly investigating situations and communicating.

· Monitor to ensure all systems are operating as expected; define operational strategies, procedures and security policies for preventative actions; take preventative action according to defined operational strategies, procedures and security policies.

· Coach and mentor team members; identify employee training and development needs; provide feedback to assist Manager to set employee goals and objectives.

· Receiving and responding to user issues using a ticketing system

· Troubleshooting and supporting Windows 10 and 11 issues

· Providing assistance to users both on-site and remotely

· Imaging and installing computers at offices

· Managing email and Active Directory networks

· Reporting and escalating major issues

Education

· Completion of a University degree or College diploma in Computer Science or equivalent educational experience.

Knowledge / Experience / Professional Courses

· years of experience in an enterprise networking environment.

· Certification/Completion of multiple networking courses such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, etc.

· Extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of installation and management of firewalls, VPN, routers, switches, wireless systems, and related network infrastructure.

· Extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of advanced networking topics such as BGP, Multi-homing and load balancing, QoS, wireless network optimization and traffic analysis, networking for Datacenters, security hardening such as DHCP Snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection, Cyber Security investigation and network forensics.

· Extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of Identity/Access management and directory services; monitoring software; disaster recovery disciplines and best practices.

· Must have a strong understanding of Windows environment including Windows 10, 11, Windows server and Active directory

· Strong understanding of WAN and LAN networking fundamentals

· Experience maintaining Networking documentation and client-side instructions

· Experience managing and troubleshooting Office 365 systems including Outlook, SharePoint and OneDrive

· Experience managing and troubleshooting wireless networking

· Knowledge of VOIP systems assets but not required

· Experience with Mac OSX, IOS and Android

· Experience with Cisco networking equipment

· Experience using IT tools including RMM software, Ticketing systems and monitoring tools

· Experience creating and deploying Windows 10 and 11 images

· Some experience using tools both hand and power
