Little Readers Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Are you all about alliteration? Love to learn about letters? Eager to help students succeed in learning to read?

Gain valuable teaching experience. Oxford Learning Rosedale is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys teaching the ins and outs of language, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in this area.

Tutor-teachers at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

Little Readers Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during afterschool hours (starting at 4:00pm), as well as Saturdays (9:00am - 2:00pm). Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education:

Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant fieldFourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be consideredTeaching certification an assetGood knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum

Experience:

Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 12 (or equivalent) levelStrong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understandingAbility to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details)

The Little Readers program is an enriched [half-day and Saturday morning] reading program for children aged 3 – 6 that develops the foundational skills needed to learn and excel. 

The Little Readers teachers use proprietary materials to teach students letter names, sounds, phonics, reading, comprehension, vocabulary, writing, and fine motor skills.

You will work directly with our younger students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

Teaching up to 5 students at a time at different levelsTeaching in-personFollowing the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophiesFilling in post-lesson notesCompleting daily student communication updatesMaintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
