As Vice President in Alternatives Distribution, you will play a crucial role in growing assets and revenues, managing distribution channels, and nurturing investor relationships within private markets and alternatives for BMO GAM. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, external partners, and clients to execute strategic initiatives and achieve business objectives. The successful candidate must show strong understanding and knowledge of Private Equity (Primaries, Secondaries, & Co-investments), Real Assets (Infrastructure and Real Estate), Private Credit and Hedge Funds. The role can be based in Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary but the candidate must be willing to travel (up to 50% of the time) within Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy Development: Contribute to the development of sales strategies aligned with business goals and market trends.
  • Distribution Management: Support the management of distribution channels effectively to ensure broad market penetration and maximize sales opportunities in your region.
  • Investor Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential investors, addressing their inquiries and needs promptly and professionally.
  • Product Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of the firm's products and services to effectively articulate value propositions to clients and investors.
  • Pitch Development: Collaborate with the marketing/IR team to create compelling pitch materials and presentations tailored to specific client needs and preferences.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor sales performance metrics, track client engagement, and generate regular monthly and quarterly reports for investors and internal management.
  • Events and Conferences Participation: Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and seminars to network with key stakeholders and promote brand visibility.
  • Client Acquisition: Identify and pursue opportunities to acquire new clients through targeted outreach and relationship-building efforts with our internal and external partners.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with BMO GAM Wholesalers, Internal Sales Wholesalers, external partners, industry players, including institutional investors, family offices, and financial advisors.
  • Client Servicing: Provide exceptional client service throughout the sales cycle, from initial contact to post-sale support and relationship management.
  • CRM Management Leadership: Utilize available CRM systems effectively to track interactions, manage client data, and generate actionable insights for business development.
  • Feedback Implementation: Use client and investor feedback to drive product and service improvements, enhancing overall client satisfaction and retention.
  • Ethical Conduct: Uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct in all interactions with clients, investors, and colleagues.
  • Compliance Adherence: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies in all sales and investor relations activities.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with client relationships, investments, and market developments to protect the firm's interests.
  • Training and Development: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development. Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices through continuous learning and professional development.
  • Problem Solving: Address client inquiries, concerns, and challenges promptly and effectively, demonstrating a solutions-oriented approach.

*Qualifications:*

  • Minimum of six years experience in Alternative Investments or Investment Banking. Capital Markets experience would be considered if the candidate can show a deep passion and understanding in Alternatives.
  • Bachelor's degree minimum with MBA, CAIA or CFA is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of private markets industry, funds structures, financial products, investment strategies, and market dynamics. This is a sales role, but the successful candidate must show high technical skills.
  • Transactional experience (M&A, co-investment/secondaries, private capital raising, fund due diligence, fund creation, etc.) would be an asset as this is a specialist role.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite (ability to work with Excel and PowerPoint a must), and other relevant software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, investors, and industry partners.
  • Very strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (:50%).
  • Proficiency in a foreign language such as French, Mandarin, Cantonese, etc. is a plus.

Salary:
$86, $160,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
