We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related systems in large vehicles and machinery, such as trucks, reefers and dry-vans. . This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment, ensuring that all repairs are completed efficiently and to the highest standards of quality.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnostic Testing: Using specialized tools and equipment to identify mechanical issues in diesel engines, electrical systems, and other components.
  • Engine Repair and Overhaul: Disassembling, repairing, or replacing diesel engine parts such as pistons, cylinders, fuel injectors, and turbochargers.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Performing regular maintenance tasks like oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, and fluid checks to ensure the vehicle or equipment runs efficiently.
  • System Troubleshooting: Identifying problems in electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems within heavy-duty vehicles and machinery.
  • Replacement of Parts: Replacing worn-out or damaged parts, such as fuel systems, transmissions, or exhaust systems, to restore optimal function.
  • Welding and Fabrication: Using welding equipment to repair metal parts or fabricate new components, as needed.
  • Documenting Repairs and Maintenance: Keeping accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and parts replacements for future reference and to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Testing and Quality Control: Ensuring all systems are properly tested and functioning before returning vehicles or machinery to operation.
  • Comply to Safety Standards: Following safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensuring the work environment remains safe.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role in a dealership or repair shop setting.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment specific to diesel engines.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a team player.
  • Good vision, hearing, and sense of smell
  • Logical thinking, ability to analyze and make decision.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required by the job.
