Work Schedule: Afternoon Shift: Monday – Thursday; 4:00 pm- 2:00 am (38hrs per week)
Compensation
At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members and are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $27.5.
This position is entitled to $1 per hour.
Join Our Team as a Machine Operator (Machine Shop)
Are you passionate about machining? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual for our machine shop function. As a Machine Operator, you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor machine operation and troubleshoot issues as needed
- Ensure parts are manufactured in accordance with quality standards, target plans and verify correct run quantities
- Visually inspect parts after each machine cycle and perform inspections as required
- Optimize the running of parts to best take advantage of the machine's operating time
- Filling out production boards with output for the shift, as well as assisting in planning the afternoon shift production
- Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and follow organizational practices
What you'll Need To Succeed:
- High school diploma
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment
- The ability to read and interpret blueprints and use callipers, micrometres, go no-go gauges, etc.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs
Physical demands:
- Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
- Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.
- Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).
- Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
- Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
- Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
- Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.
- Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
- Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
