We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Completions Student to join our team for a valuable learning experience.
As a Completions Engineering Summer Student, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced Completions team. This role will provide you with hands-on experience and exposure to various aspects of well completions and hydraulic fracturing operations. You will play a key role in assisting with data collection and analysis for performance evaluation, improving daily reporting, reviewing well records and supporting ongoing operations. As a highly integrated technical team, we advance our understanding in a multidisciplinary environment using a continuous improvement framework.
The term of the position is for 4 months, with an anticipated start date in May 2026. We thank all applicants, however, only those meeting the minimum requirements will be considered for the position.
Key Responsibilities:
Projects are subject to individual experience and corporate priorities. Specific projects may include:
Utilize data analytics to analyze well completions data, identify trends and make data-driven recommendations for improvement
Assist with automating workflows to collect, process and interpret well completions data
Support daily reporting improvements
Apply machine learning techniques to detect operational anomalies
Develop and improve KPIs and monitoring tools for operational performance tracking
Perform completions cost analysis
Office-based role with some field travel to completion operations
Education, Skills & Abilities:
Current enrollment in at least a 3rd year Bachelor's degree program in engineering, or a related field.
Strong academic performance and a passion for the oil & gas industry.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Spotfire), data analytics, and machine learning techniques is an asset
Experience working with databases and structured data is an asset
Proficiency in R or Python coding is an asset.
Experience with Excel, including formulas and basic automation (e.g., macros) is an asset
Experience with completions and hydraulic fracturing is an asset
Ability to work in our Calgary Office is required. Supervised travel to Field locations in Alberta may be required.
