Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fitter to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components using various welding techniques and fitting skills. This role requires a strong understanding of blueprint reading, mechanical knowledge, and proficiency with hand and power tools. The Welder/Fitter will play a critical part in ensuring the quality and safety of our products, including ductwork, structural components, and custom assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and TIG welding to fabricate metal parts according to detailed schematics and blueprints
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions
  • Use calipers, hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other equipment to cut, shape, and assemble materials
  • Rigging and crane operation to lift and position heavy components safely
  • Conduct machining operations as needed for precise fitting of parts
  • Measure dimensions accurately with calipers and other measuring devices to ensure specifications are met
  • Assist with the assembly of ductwork, structural frameworks, or other custom fabrications
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols
  • Perform routine inspections of welds and fittings for quality assurance

Requirements

  • Proven experience in welding (MIG and TIG) within a manufacturing or construction environment
  • Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication, assembly, and machinery operation
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, plasma cutting equipment, press brake machines, and welding equipment
  • Knowledge of rigging procedures and crane operation is preferred
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations during fabrication processes
  • Experience with machining processes such as using calipers or working with schematics is advantageous
  • Ability to work safely around heavy machinery including forklifts and cranes
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
