Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Roommate Support Worker for a 42-year-old Male with Down Syndrome. This is a live-in position ideal for university/college students or someone looking for a supplementary income as most responsibilities are between 5pm and 7am. It offers significant remuneration for minimal caregiving responsibilities as the young man is very high functioning. Male or female may apply.

Position pays a flat monthly rate but also provides the successful applicant with a deeply discounted large master bedroom rental in the individual's home with personal ensuite bathroom, Internet, cable TV, international phone service & utilities.

The role involves assisting with meal preparation, grocery shopping, light housekeeping, some social/recreational activities as well as assisting with some of the individual's personal goals.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

• Offer companionship and emotional support to the individual, fostering a positive and engaging environment

• Assist in the planning and preparation of nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs

• Perform light housekeeping duties including cleaning and maintaining a safe environment

• Monitor residents' overall health status and report any concerns to his family contact.

Requirements

• Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate and patient demeanor

• Prior experience in a caregiving role is advantageous

• Knowledge of working with people with disabilities is an asset, but not required

• Must be reliable, attentive to detail, and able to work independently

• Must have a valid drivers license with clean drivers abstract, their own personal vehicle and proper insurance

• Must have First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain certification after hiring
