Learn more about us here:   Due to the high demand for our services and for the expertise of our exceptional team, we're growing, and currently searching for a Senior Shelter Manager to look after two of our core programs.   This is a challenging role in which you'll oversee our high-barrier services, ensuring they serve the needs of the community and align with our vision and strategy.   • Salary range starting at $103,000 plus Northern Allowance of $16,008
  • Northern Employees Benefits Service (NEBS) which includes health insurance and pension plan.

  Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and coordinates the day-to-day operations of a shelter site, including collaborating with Transitional Housing, Food Services and Facilities managers to provide meals, environment and services that meet client needs.
  • Monitors the Men's Homeless Shelter Program and the Transitional Housing Program, ensuring that outcomes and deliverables meet the requirements of contracts and contribution agreements.
  • Develops metrics and data to track performance and produces program and operational reports and forecasts.
  • Resolve and report on issues; seek out and suggest improvements; solicit feedback from clients and other stakeholders.
  • Ensures client health issues are monitored and addressed.
  • Supports Client Service Workers in delivering individual client service.
  • In collaboration with the Program Director, develops and updates the programs, policies & procedures.
  • Manage staff, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management and career development. 
  • Oversees and monitor all aspects of the program's financial administration, including managing, monitoring and reporting on program budgets, variances, forecasting.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation.
  Key Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience providing support to homeless, marginalized and/or indigenous populations.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and territorial legislation such as labour standards, privacy, residential tenancies.
  • Understanding and knowledge of treatment and supports for individuals with complex social and health needs.
  • Understanding of the oppression and marginalization of the homeless, including an understanding of the effects of colonialization on the health and well-being of Indigenous people.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively build relationships.
  • Collaborative and constructive; well-suited to thrive in a cross-functional team and diverse cultural environment.
  • Results-oriented, creative problem-solver able to provide practical advice and guidance and proactively reach solutions to issues.
  • Superior organizational skills with good attention to detail and the ability to meet tight timelines and deliver timely results that are on-budget.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office programs, especially MS Outlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams and social media platforms.
  • Up to date certifications in First Aid/CPR, Food Safe, WHIMIS, Non-Violent Conflict Resolution and Health & Safety Supervisor, or the ability to quickly acquire them.
  • Familiarity with Inuit or Indigenous culture is preferred.
