Job Description:

The Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA) department aims to inspire and connect our customers, communities and colleagues through communications, conversations and advocacy that enrich lives, deliver business outcomes, and enhance our brand. We deliver best-in-class external and internal communications to help differentiate TD in the market and elevate our brand.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will track, analyze, and report on media coverage across print, broadcast and social channels. This role is critical in ensuring Corporate and Public Affairs stays informed about brand mentions, industry trends, and potential reputational risks. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in media analysis, excellent research skills, and the ability to deliver timely insights to stakeholders.

The Successful Candidate will:

  • Conduct daily pro-active and reactive tracking of media coverage related to the organization, its competitors, and the industry across various channels, including print, online, broadcast, and social media.
  • Use media monitoring tools and manual processes (e.g., Meltwater, Cision, Sprinklr, Factiva) to gather, analyze, and interpret coverage.
  • Set up and refine searches, keyword tracking, and real-time alerts within media monitoring platforms to enable self-serve access.
  • Compile and distribute regular reports summarizing media coverage.
  • Monitor competitor activity and industry conversations to support benchmarking insights.
  • Assist in real-time media monitoring during crisis situations, providing rapid reporting and escalating potential reputational risks.
  • Identify emerging news cycles and discussion topics that could affect the organization, to support actionable insights that inform proactive and reactive media strategies.
  • Work closely with internal teams to provide media insights and support strategic communications initiatives.
  • Provide backup support for email distribution, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of internal enterprise communications.

What you bring to the role:

  • 3+ years of experience in a corporate communications, marketing or agency environment, or comparable communications experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in communications, public relations, or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent required.
  • Understanding of media landscapes, including traditional press, broadcast, digital news, and social media.
  • Experience using media monitoring platforms, Excel, InfoDesk, PowerPoint, or data visualization tools are a plus.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with an ability to synthesize large amounts of information.
  • Maintain flexibility in working hours to support crisis situations, including after-hours monitoring when urgent media developments arise.
