The PSW is a front line position acting as a representative of the company and providing the services offered by the company. The PSW duties are not limited to those listed as the position has a wide scope of duties at times dependent on the client and always under the auspices of the company. The PSW will mostly work independently of co-workers or supervisors and therefore must balance good judgment and initiative along with the policies of the company.

It should be noted that emphasis is for the PSW to involve the client in the care program to help provide the client with the basic standards of healthy living as follows:

Duties and Responsibilities: The following list of duties is a guideline of possible duties to be performed independently or as a group of duties in the course of working with the client. The PSW duties are not limited to those listed.

  • Personal Care
  • Housekeeping, Laundry,
  • Grocery Shopping and Meal Preparation
  • Companionship
  • Transportation and Escort to Appointments and Outings

A PSW will be required to drive client's vehicle to take them to appointments, grocery shopping, or outing.

Work Hours: The client currently requires assistance 10hr/day, 7 days a week till further reassessment for more hours. Position starts immediately.

Qualifications: PSWs applying for this position MUST meet, possess, and provide the following

  1. Personal Support Worker certificate

  2. Experience working with seniors

  3. Current CPR and First Aid

  4. Vulnerable Sector police check required

  5. Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation

  6. Ability to work independently.

  7. Able to work in a stressful environment.

  8. Must be physically and mentally fit to handle the demands of care giving.

  9. Truly passionate about providing excellent care

  10. Enthusiasm about promoting and maintaining health

  11. Well-developed interpersonal skills

  12. Attention to detail and a willingness to go the extra mile for your clients

  13. A positive attitude

  14. Respectful and reliable

General Notes:

The PSW will be required to maintain a safe working environment for themselves and their clients.

There may be emergency situations where the PSW will have to react quickly with sound judgement.

The scope of duties described may not include all duties to be performed by the PSW and is subject to change.
