Apprentice Welder (1st Year) – Summit (Acheson, AB)

Summit trailer has is offering an excellent opportunity for an entry level Apprentice Welder, this opportunity will offer the successful candidate training to grow, learn and excel within this trade. The successful candidate with have shown initiatives that demonstrates they wish to choose a path in this direction of becoming a skilled tradesperson.

Responsibilities:

• Repairs and fabrication on various makes of heavy duty trucks and trailers.
• Follow directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders.
• Knowledge and skills in operating all welding machinery, ability to weld according to pre-set parameters using MIG, ARC and TIG welding processes
• Knowledge of welding metal components using the SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and MCAW process
• Successful candidate must supply their own tools

Hours:

Monday to Thursday 7:30AM-5:00PM

Friday 7:30AM-4:00PM

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma
• Previous welding experience an asset
• 1st year Apprentice with valid blue book
• Ability to interpret drawings, layouts and follow work order instructions.
• Ability to handle items up to 50 pounds, this includes lifting, pushing, pulling and positioning items.
• Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
• Ability to perform basic math skills, routine calculations and read tape measures
• Basic knowledge of using hand tools and safety and maintenance of those tools
• Interest in continually upgrading skills and knowledge in trade
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills
• Have a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to handle multiple tasks
