Public Works & River Valley Civic Centre – Seasonal Position

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team in a seasonal role, working across two departments: Public Works and the River Valley Civic Centre. This position is split between general maintenance within the Public Works department, including working on back of the garbage truck, and maintenance duties at the Civic Centre, there you'll also serve as a Zamboni operator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with garbage collection (on back of garbage truck)
  • Carry out general labor tasks
  • Drive and maintain the Zamboni at the Civic Centre
  • Conduct janitorial work and routine cleaning
  • Perform general maintenance on buildings and equipment
  • Other tasks as assigned by management

This role requires flexibility during the fall and winter seasons. Expect early morning shifts for garbage removal and evening or weekend hours for snow removal and scheduled Civic Centre shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma (Grade 12) required. Preference will be given to candidates with a related trade certificate, degree, or diploma.
  • Licensing: Must be able to obtain a Class 5 driver's license.
  • Experience: Familiarity with operating equipment, building and equipment maintenance, and cleaning is preferred.
  • Attributes: Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks, learn new skills, and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to obtain a criminal background check.

Compensation

Hourly wage ranges from $18.50 to $21.00, depending on experience and qualifications.
