Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Civil Technician Graduate. This is a full-time position with our Transportation business line that can be based in either the Markham or Pickering offices with hybrid work options.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides support in the areas of developing CAD details and drawings related to transportation structures, such as bridges, subways, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Provide support in construction inspection activities and assist with preparation of inspection reports.
  • Conduct quantity calculations.
  • General understanding of procedures, company policies to achieve set results and deadlines.
  • Performs routine tasks while working under supervision.
  • Entry-level position, previous experience may not be required.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology
  • Understanding of Civil 3D, AutoCAD and Revit
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering Technology is preferred.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, knowledge of MicroStation beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Experience creating structural drawings and details based on instructions and mark-ups prepared by engineers.
  • Familiarity and understanding of major bridge elements, culverts and retaining walls.
  • Experience creating base plans from collected survey data.
  • Experience working with GIS data.
  • Experience in civil/structural, municipal or transportation engineering CAD design.
  • Experience in developing AutoCAD drawings/details of bridge elements, such as foundations, abutments, and girders.
  • Certified or eligible for certification as a CET and a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to details.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Good time management skills.
