Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and energetic Yard and Shop Helper to join our dynamic team. The yard and shop helper plays a key role in maintaining the overall cleanliness organization, and efficiency of the fabrication and machine shop. Ther job involves cleaning and preparing incoming jobs assisting with material handling and supporting the day-to-day operations both inside the shop and in the yard. The ideal candidate is safety minded, hardworking and takes pride in keeping the work environment clean and well-organized.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning and organization of the shop and yard areas, including sweeping mopping and waste removal.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of machines, workstations, walkways, and communal areas to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
  • Support regular cleanup of welding bays, machine stations, and storage areas, by clearing and sweeping chips, welding slag, and emptying scrap bins.
  • Use hot water pressure washer to clean incoming jobs, equipment, and fabricated parts before and after work is completed.
  • Supports facilities maintenance. Emptying garbage and maintaining the lunchroom (Making coffee and replacing empty towel dispensers).
  • Other general tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience in an industrial, fabrication or machine shop environment an asset.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Familiarity with pressure washers, hand tools and power tools is preferred.
  • Forklift on 5000lbs,10000lbs & 30000lbs and/or overhead crane experience or certification an asset.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Reliable, self motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions; capable of lifting moderate loads and standing for extended periods.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00-$31.76 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
