About the roleCooke is a global seafood company with operations in North America, Europe, South America and Australia. Our company's success is driven by our dynamic, highly skilled, and innovative management team, supported by dedicated employees who live in coastal communities and contribute to the local area's economy and sense of community.
Overview
As Cooke continues to advance its global digital transformation, the Solution Architect plays a pivotal role in designing scalable, reusable technology solutions that balance business goals with technical excellence. Working across fusion Capability Teams, Product Teams, and the Digital Strategy group, the Solution Architect ensures that solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, security principles, and Cooke's long‑term vision. The architect partners closely with Business Systems Analysts (BSAs) who steward our Minimum Viable Architecture (MVA) model, ensuring solution intent is clearly captured and aligns to reusable patterns even in the absence of a formal Enterprise Architecture function.
The Role
Reporting to the Digital Strategy & IT Business Management team, the Solution Architect:
- Creates end‑to‑end solution architectures that integrate applications, data, cloud services, and infrastructure.
- Guides delivery teams, vendors, and integrators to ensure solutions are realized according to design.
- Collaborates with Business Systems Analysts (BSAs) to shape solution intent and reusable MVA patterns.
- Balances short‑term project needs with long‑term scalability and maintainability.
- Champions best practices for security, integration, and data governance across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Design Governance
- Translate business and capability requirements into secure, scalable architectural blueprints and diagrams.
- Select appropriate technology stacks, integration patterns, and data models to meet functional and non‑functional needs.
- Create Minimum Viable Architecture (MVA) templates and reusable solution patterns to accelerate future initiatives.
Delivery Oversight & Quality Assurance
- Provide hands‑on guidance to development, infrastructure, and vendor teams during implementation.
- Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and risk assessments to validate alignment with architecture and compliance standards.
- Troubleshoot critical technical issues and recommend mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Alignment & Facilitation
- Collaborate with BRMs, Capability Owners, Product Managers, and business leaders to capture requirements and ensure shared understanding.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences, fostering informed decision‑making.
- Facilitate trade‑off discussions around scope, cost, performance, and timelines.
Standards & Best Practices
- Define and promote technology standards, security principles, integration guidelines, and MVA guardrails.
- Maintain architectural documentation in enterprise architecture tooling (e.g., Ardoq).
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies that drive business value and operational efficiency.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities to modernize legacy systems and reduce technical debt.
- Lead technical proof‑of‑concepts to validate new solutions and approaches.
- Contribute to Cooke's innovation events (e.g., Hackathons, Innovation Days) to showcase solution concepts.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5+ years in solution architecture, systems design, or senior technical roles within complex enterprises.
- Solid understanding of cloud design principles and readiness to collaborate with Cloud and Security Architects on platform and security decisions.
- Experience designing solutions in manufacturing, food production, or supply chain is an asset.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft ecosystem (Power Platform, Dynamics, Azure DevOps).
- Certifications such as TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent are advantageous.
- Proficiency with architecture modelling and diagramming tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Ardoq).

About CookeRestaurants
For 100 years, Cooke has been at the centre of the filmmaking business. We've been listening to the community of which we are a part. We lead by introducing new products such as /i Technology, and we remember our success is built on a simple idea - do what the filmmaker needs.
Our factory in Leicester, England has generations from the same family working side by side. That experience is un-beaten anywhere. We manufacture a full range of primes and zooms for 35mm, digital and Super 16mm photography, plus a range of large format stills lenses.
We know our customers, and they know us, as individuals. Our rental partners do their training next to the craftsman who built their lenses. There are no barriers. We meet our customers at our factory, at trade events, distributors and rental houses and of course on the set.
We're intolerant when it comes to tolerances. We research continuously to drive innovation. Our lenses are dependable and practical in use on the set; our optics superb. The lenses are straightforward to maintain – which is why so many rental facilities carry our products. Our manufacturing and testers keep going until we get each lens within our very tight specification. We get it right, whatever it takes.
At the heart of what makes Cooke special is the "Cooke Look". The Cooke Look is about the science of creating beautiful images for the motion picture industry.
