Your Role
As Executive Director, you will lead Wilderness International Canada with vision, integrity, and passion for wilderness protection. You will oversee strategy and operations while ensuring strong collaboration with our partners in Germany and Peru. This leadership role combines organizational management, fundraising, corporate partnerships, community engagement, and advocacy. You will serve as an ambassador for Wilderness International Canada and help shape its future growth and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Provide overall leadership and direction in line with global goals.
- Represent Wilderness International Canada publicly with partners, government, and media.
- Collaborate with sister organizations in Germany and Peru to ensure alignment and joint impact.
Conservation & Advocacy
- Lead conservation projects in Canada and share knowledge internationally.
- Advocate for policies, partnerships, and actions that protect wilderness.
Partnerships & Fundraising
- Build and expand strategic, long-term corporate partnerships that align with sustainability and conservation goals.
- Collaborate, nurture and support of existing and new partnerships.
- Develop creative cooperation concepts that empower partners to communicate their sustainability commitments transparently and effectively.
- Collaborate with communications teams to highlight partnerships and increase visibility in the corporate sector.
- Help the Board of Directors to ensure financial sustainability through grants, sponsorships, and diverse funding streams.
Community Engagement & Outreach
- Build relationships with Indigenous communities, donors, and stakeholders.
- Oversee communications, events, and outreach to strengthen community engagement.
- Represent the organization at conferences, events, and public forums.
Organizational Management
- Oversee financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with legal and governance requirements.
- Support team growth and cross-functional collaboration across international teams (Canada, Germany, Peru).
Your Skills and Experience
- 4+ years of leadership/management in non-profits, conservation, or related fields.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, and corporate partnerships.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Cross-cultural competence and ability to work with diverse communities.
- Passion for wilderness protection and sustainability.
