Position Overview

The
Data Governance Consultant
will support Capital Markets Data & Analytical Governance initiatives, with a primary focus on
records retention, data remediation, data quality improvements, and strengthening data sourcing
across enterprise Capital Markets systems. The role involves hands‑on data investigation, root‑cause analysis, documentation, and collaboration with Technology, Operations, and Risk partners.

This consultant will work across
trade, product, pricing, client, and market data
, ensuring data integrity, reliability, and compliance with internal governance controls.

Key Responsibilities

Data Remediation & Investigation

  • Analyze and remediate data issues across Capital Markets systems, including SPS and Authoritative Data Source (ADS) environments.
  • Perform detailed investigations related to
    trade, product, pricing, market, and client reference data
    .
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis of data quality issues affecting downstream reporting, risk processes, and governance.

Data Governance & Controls

  • Support execution, validation, and documentation of
    Data Quality (DQ) rules
    aligned with Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
  • Identify and close gaps in
    data lineage, metadata, and system mappings
    .
  • Provide governance documentation for audit, regulatory, and operational risk purposes.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Technology, Operations, Finance, Market Risk Data Management, and Business partners to resolve data defects.
  • Actively track defect progress, impacts, remediation timelines, and required corrective actions.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare high‑quality deliverables including:
  • Data issue summaries
  • Root‑cause assessments
  • System lineage and data flow diagrams
  • Remediation evidence
  • Closure documentation for governance committees

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years
    of experience working with Capital Markets data across trade lifecycle, client, product, or pricing datasets.
  • Hands‑on experience with systems such as:
  • Calypso, Murex, WSS, Imagine
  • Fenergo, Product Master
  • GMTC, SDR, MHUB, APMS, ICI, BMOSM
  • Or similar Capital Markets trade/reference data platforms.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Market data identifiers (ISIN, CUSIP, RIC, etc.)
  • Pricing feeds
  • Counterparty/client data structures
  • General Ledger (GL) mapping
  • Ability to perform deep data investigations and reconcile inconsistencies across multiple systems.
  • Strong SQL skills or experience with data profiling tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex data lineage and mapping issues.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, especially for audit and governance.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with
    regulatory reporting
    (e.g., FR2052a, CCAR, SCCL, FDIC 148, IFRS9).
  • Knowledge of
    metadata management, data quality frameworks, CDE programs
    , or enterprise data governance.
  • Prior experience resolving
    audit findings, compliance issues
    , or
    operational risk items
    .
  • Understanding of data controls within large financial institutions.
