Role Overview:

  • We are seeking a
    Senior Quality Engineer
    to support and lead quality initiatives within a
    core enterprise authentication platform
    used across Canadian financial services.
  • This platform underpins all consumer and internal authentication flows, making quality, reliability, and security critical.
  • This role sits at the
    center of multiple transformation initiatives
    , supporting architecture changes, new project onboarding, and ensuring delivery continuity across onshore and offshore teams.
  • This is a
    hands-on senior QE role
    , not pure management.
  • The ideal consultant brings strong
    automation, API testing, and authentication domain expertise
    , and is comfortable owning quality strategy while remaining technically engaged.
  • This team hires
    senior consultants
    — individuals who operate independently, think critically, and elevate quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Ownership & Strategy:

  • Own quality for
    authentication products and services
    supporting high-volume consumer traffic
  • Define and execute
    end-to-end quality strategy
    across UI, API, and backend layers
  • Embed quality early in the SDLC, partnering closely with engineering and architecture teams
  • Ensure reliability, security, and scalability during ongoing platform changes

Automation & Framework Development:

  • Design, build, and enhance
    automation frameworks
    % greenfield development)
  • Develop automation from scratch while integrating with existing platforms
  • Maintain and scale automation suites using
    Selenium and Playwright
  • Drive test coverage and quality metrics across multiple projects

API & Authentication Testing:

  • Lead
    API testing
    for authentication and identity services
  • Validate login flows, MFA, session management, token handling, and authorization
  • Perform functional, regression, and integration testing across services
  • Ensure authentication endpoints meet performance and security expectations

Cross-Team & Vendor Leadership:

  • Act as a
    lead QE
    across multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal teams and multiple external vendors
  • Manage
    onshore and offshore QA resources
    , ensuring delivery is not impacted by staffing delays
  • Mentor team members and promote consistent QE best practices

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years
    of Quality Engineering experience
  • Hands-on experience with:

Selenium

Playwright

  • API testing
    (designing, writing, and executing tests)
  • Strong understanding of
    authentication and identity workflows
  • Experience working in
    financial services or banking environments
  • Proven ability to:
  • Write automation scripts from scratch
  • Enhance and maintain existing automation platforms
  • Exposure to
    AI-assisted testing or intelligent automation
  • Strong communication and collaboration skill

Nice-to-Have:

  • Backend or service-level testing experience
  • Experience combining
    internal platform testing
    with vendor solutions
  • Exposure to large-scale architecture modernization initiatives
