About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will be providing person-centred active support to people living with disability on the Central Coast. Supported Independent Living (SIL) is supporting people with disability in shared housing or in their own home, providing various supports including personal care and daily living assistance.

We have 5 permanent part time positions available. Minimum hours 19.5 hours per fortnight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support clients with a high level of complex and physical support needs
  • Passionate about promoting active, healthy living
  • Support participation in day programs, hydrotherapy and broader community access
  • Enjoy downtime including picnics in the park, fishing and listening to classical music
  • Assist with personal care tasks (e.g. bathing, dressing) and manual handling
  • Safe wheelchair transfers and transportation
  • Implement person-centred active support and follow behaviour support plans
  • Follow modified diet requirements and support safe mealtime practices

Skills & Experience

  • Ability to drive a small bus for client transportation
  • Experience providing dementia and behaviour support
  • Resilience and confidence in managing complex situations
  • An unrestricted New South Wales driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop
  • A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011

Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
