Furnace Operator – Nuclear Manufacturing

Location: Vaughan, ON

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Furnace Operator to support precision manufacturing operations within the nuclear industry. This position involves the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of high-temperature furnaces used for heat treating, annealing, and sintering of critical components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in furnace operation and a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor high-temperature furnaces for material processing and heat treatment.
  • Perform sintering, annealing, and other controlled heat processes per specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of furnace operations, temperature charts, and process data.
  • Verify furnace charts, approve results, and enter data into ERP systems.
  • Conduct run-out checks and verify the quality of forged parts.
  • Clean and prepare components before and after furnace cycles.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting on furnace equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety, environmental, and OHSA standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and quality personnel to improve furnace performance and process reliability.
  • Participate in required safety and technical training programs.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or technical certification in furnace operations, metallurgy, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience operating industrial or high-temperature furnaces, ideally in nuclear, aerospace, or heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of furnace design, operation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret heat-treat cards, furnace charts, and technical drawings.
  • Working knowledge of health & safety regulations, including PPE and radiation protection.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor process data accurately.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in high-temperature environments.
