Furnace Operator – Nuclear Manufacturing

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Furnace Operator to support precision manufacturing operations within the nuclear industry. This position involves the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of high-temperature furnaces used for heat treating, annealing, and sintering of critical components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in furnace operation and a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor high-temperature furnaces for material processing and heat treatment.
- Perform sintering, annealing, and other controlled heat processes per specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of furnace operations, temperature charts, and process data.
- Verify furnace charts, approve results, and enter data into ERP systems.
- Conduct run-out checks and verify the quality of forged parts.
- Clean and prepare components before and after furnace cycles.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting on furnace equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety, environmental, and OHSA standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and quality personnel to improve furnace performance and process reliability.
- Participate in required safety and technical training programs.
Qualifications
- College diploma or technical certification in furnace operations, metallurgy, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience operating industrial or high-temperature furnaces, ideally in nuclear, aerospace, or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of furnace design, operation, and maintenance.
- Ability to interpret heat-treat cards, furnace charts, and technical drawings.
- Working knowledge of health & safety regulations, including PPE and radiation protection.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor process data accurately.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in high-temperature environments.
