Convergint is looking for a full-time, team-oriented, results-driven Fire Alarm Technician to join our amazing culture in our Calgary, AB location. As the CFAA Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for providing customer and technical support for new and installed fire alarm systems that are moderately complex.

What you'll do with "Our Training and Your Experience"

Test, repair, and service a variety of fire alarm systems and equipment with guidance as needed. Uses solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.Identifies and resolves problems for most types of service calls including emergency calls; analyzes repair requirements and provides customer with appropriate solutions; completes necessary repairs and replacements as needed; Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. May require originality and ingenuity in some situations.Using technical knowledge, skills and experience, may act as mentor for less experienced staff. May provide guidance to workers in testing, annual inspections, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performance.Effectively communicate project requirements and status including project change proposals and related project activities on a regular basis to project manager/supervisor. Completes work on time and according to project schedules including project change proposals.Perform wiring checkout, system start-ups, and programming using commissioning tools. Complete final adjustments, calibration and commissioning reports on systems.Complete accurate and detailed service reports for customer and Convergint to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.Acts as "our customer's best service provider" at all times thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer's first choice for service. 

What You'll Need

Solid customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to determine the needs and wants of the customer without being promptedSolid technical skills and experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systemsSolid programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutionsMust be a self-starter and work well with general supervisionSolid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper)Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsSolid organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple service needs simultaneouslyStrong proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) 

Requirements:

CFAA Fire Alarm Technician certification is essential3 - 5 years of commercial experience in product application/installation, start-up and commissioningA degree in electronic technologies (electrical engineering or similar) is considered an asset.Experience with Edwards products preferredCertifications EST3/3X and/or EST4 certifications are excellent assets
