Overview:

Reporting to the Vice President of Product, the Product Design Engineer, will be responsible for CAD design and SolidWorks modeling, assisting with takeoffs, creating high-quality images for both new and existing products. Your attention to detail and proficiency in CAD software will be crucial in ensuring the accuracy and visual appeal of our product designs. Additionally, you will collaborate with our product development team, providing technical expertise and contributing to the improvement of our offerings.

What You Get To Do:

  • Assist the Business Development team with assessing architectural plans and developing detailed takeoffs based on the section details and floor plans using the CAD software
  • Create thorough product section details to ease the Business Development team's conversations with architects, interior designers and acoustical consultants
  • Continuously make improvements to the coding in the takeoff generator (an automated system used to assist in the creation of detailed takeoffs for the business development engineers)
  • Develop, validate, and optimize FEA models for floating floor systems, including static and dynamic structural analysis. Evaluate various loadings from fitness and mechanical equipment to provide technical assessment and product recommendations
  • Work alongside the document control team to update product specification guides and other technical documents including installation guides, maintenance manuals, one pagers, and other marketing documents
  • Contribute creatively to new product development as well as any other area of the business
  • Schedule customer facing meetings (in person when applicable, virtual, or whatever creative means you can come up with) in order to increase Pliteq's market share and maintain solid partnerships
  • Be a role model for the team in actions, communication, and results
  • Explore and close new business opportunities by developing project-specific strategies that incorporate Pliteq products, communicating project-specific strategies with key contacts, and communicating responses to objections.
  • Become a trusted advisor and resource to the construction community
  • All other special projects as assigned

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 1 year experience of AutoCAD drafting and modeling is required
  • Previous work experience using commercial FEA software is considered an asset
  • 1-2 years experience in an engineering role considered an asset
  • Industrial design experience considered an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X/macOS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace programs
  • A background with practical skills developed through jobs, school teams or personal interest are highly valued

  • Must demonstrate the ability to take direction and perform work independently
