Vegan Food Truck Manager

Well-established, local plant-based food truck in Courtenay, BC now seeking an experienced team member for a part time leadership role. Our food truck currently operates 7 days a week from 10am to 4pm, with a steady, regular lunch crowd. Our menu includes a full coffee menu, smoothies, veggie burgers, bowls, and fresh baked goods.

We are not in any rush to hire, and we want to fill this role with the perfect fit. This position has loads of potential to grow with the company, and increase to full time come Spring 2026.

MUST HAVE requirements:

  • very friendly and customer service oriented
  • minimum 1 year barista experience
  • 1 year cooking experience, anywhere from a confident plant-based home cook to a commercial kitchen background
  • familiar with and enjoy plant-based cooking and lifestyle
  • confident working solo in the food truck
  • HIGHLY organized and ABSURDLY detail oriented -- these are a MUST
  • ability to work in a face paced environment / stay cool under pressure
  • confidence in leading a team and delegating tasks;
  • not afraid to give constructive criticism and guidance to team members
  • strong communicator -- clear, honest, and open
  • a flexible schedule, or working towards one, able to work a variety of day/evening/weekend shifts

Job details:

In charge of the overall operations of the food truck including:

  • preparing menu items on order and basic food prep
  • preparing smoothies and speciality coffees on order
  • baking plant based treats daily
  • interacting with customers and maintaining customer satisfaction
  • operating and updating the POS system and Doordash system daily
  • maintaining a foodsafe kitchen
  • counting the till and cashing out
  • occasional closing shifts with dishwashing tasks
  • keeping on top of inventory levels and updating order lists
  • running errands and restocking, as needed
  • training and managing staff

Wage is negotiable and based on experience, skillset and attitude, but will fall in the $22-$25 hourly range (plus cash tips) once fully trained.
