The Opportunity:
 
The Commercial AML Associate Analyst will support the organization's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance efforts within the commercial mortgage space. This role requires a strong foundation in AML principles, a basic understanding of the mortgage industry (preferably commercial mortgages), and the ability to analyze and resolve issues efficiently. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and strong time management capabilities.

How you will contribute:

Conduct AML reviews and investigations related to commercial mortgage transactions.
Analyze data and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Perform screening of potential matches against Canadian and international sanctions lists and evaluate any positive hits in accordance with AML policies and procedures.
Prepare clear and concise reports and escalate findings as necessary.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues and implement process improvements.
Support audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal compliance initiatives.
Maintain accurate records and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.

Required Skills and Attributes:

Basic understanding of the mortgage industry, with preference for commercial mortgages.
Foundational knowledge of AML principles; prior AML experience is an asset.
Strong analytical thinking and resourcefulness.
Ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and resolve problems efficiently.
Clear and concise verbal and written communication.
Active listening and ability to convey ideas effectively to diverse stakeholders.
Ability to collaborate effectively and maintain a respectful, cooperative attitude.
Strong prioritization skills and ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Genuine interest in AML required; previous AML experience is an asset
Able to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, structured team environment while also working independently when required
Familiarity with commercial mortgage products and processes is an asset
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Working Environment and Physical Demands Analysis:

Office environment
Periods of high volume with tight timelines
Long periods of stationary position/sitting
Prolonged periods of repetitive movement (i.e. using a keyboard and mouse)
Long periods of time in viewing a computer screen
Multi-tasking may include speaking to customers on a telephone call while looking up information on a computer program
