Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise data architecture solutions supporting large-scale digital transformation initiatives.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping secure, scalable, and high-performing digital platforms, ensuring data systems align with organizational goals, modern architecture standards, and user-centered design principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end data architecture strategy, planning, and implementation for multiple concurrent enterprise projects.
  • Design and maintain data models, architecture roadmaps, and governance frameworks for complex systems.
  • Manage database provisioning, performance, and optimization using technologies such as MS SQL Server, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and PostgreSQL.
  • Ensure data reliability, scalability, and security across all environments.
  • Analyze data usage and system performance to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, product owners, and stakeholders to align data solutions with business objectives.
  • Mentor and guide technical teams on data architecture best practices and data governance principles.
  • Contribute to the development of enterprise data standards, frameworks, and policies.

Technical Environment

  • Languages & Frameworks: C#, .NET Core, TypeScript, React / React Native
  • Cloud & Database Platforms: Microsoft Azure (App Services, Azure SQL), Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, GitHub
  • Collaboration Tools: Microsoft Teams, Zoom (as required)

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in data architecture, software architecture, or senior data engineering.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise-level data solutions.
  • At least 2 years working on a major enterprise project valued at $5M or more.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (preferably Azure) and enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Expertise in database administration, performance tuning, and maintenance.
  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Assets (Nice to Have)

  • Experience in AI-driven data architecture, data analytics, or unstructured data modeling.
  • Background in modernizing legacy systems into modern digital platforms.
  • Understanding of UX principles, service design, and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience working within large enterprise or public sector environments.

Additional Information

  • Candidates must provide two (2) detailed project examples demonstrating relevant experience.
  • Security requirements: Criminal Record Check and potentially Enhanced Security Clearance (for certain projects).
  • This is a remote-first position with occasional on-site requirements in Edmonton.
  • Three (3) professional references must be included with the application.
