ROLE

The Porter is a member of the peri-operative care team and is assigned to work with the physicians, nursing, MDR and environmental services staff to provide support to patients and patient care staff. The Porter is responsible for providing support within the peri-operative area, including the Operating Room (O.R.), PACU, Endoscopy and SPAC, for various housekeeping, portering duties and the maintenance of supplies and equipment in an aseptic environment. In addition, the Porter will also support the Medical Imaging, Emergency Department, and Inpatient Units to carry out responsibilities as assigned by these areas accordingly.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

• Minimum Grade 12 education required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate required

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)

• Computer knowledge
• Ability to work independently and prioritize work
• Ability to do heavy lifting and transferring of patients and machinery

DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION

• One-year experience preferred
• First aid certificate preferred
• Back Lifting Program preferred
