Senior Software Developer — AI-Powered Aviation Training:
What you'll do:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure backend systems and data
collection services supporting high-volume, globally distributed aviation data pipelines.
- Act as a technical expert in defining infrastructure and application requirements, supporting deployment, testing, and validation of new platform capabilities across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Lead the development of core application services, including asynchronous processing, RESTful APIs, and data access layers that support real-time and batch analytics workflows.
- Collaborate closely with the data science team to integrate machine-learning models into production systems, ensuring reliable, performant, and observable model-serving architectures.
- Design, optimize, and review database schemas and queries, ensuring data integrity, performance and scalability across global deployments.
- Contribute to and lead architecture, code, and infrastructure reviews, promoting best practices in software quality, security, and maintainability.
- Work with DevOps engineers and external partners to design and operate cloud-native infrastructure, leveraging containerized microservices, serverless components, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Develop internal tools and platform improvements that enhance engineering efficiency, operational reliability, and developer experience.
- Produce clear technical documentation and follow disciplined configuration and version control practices.
- Engage with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders as required, including occasional travel to client or partner sites.
What you'll bring
- Proven aviation experience and a strong grasp of flight principles, obtained through formal aerospace education or practical piloting experience, along with a demonstrated interest in aviation, aerospace, or defence and clear motivation to work on systems with real-world safety and operational impact.
- 5+ years of professional experience developing and operating production software systems, including backend services, APIs, and data-driven applications.
- Demonstrated experience as a Senior Software Developer or Senior Software Engineer, with ownership of complex, production-grade systems across multiple stages of growth and scale.
- Deep expertise in Python and the Django framework, with strong experience building backend services and APIs.
- Solid experience designing and operating systems on AWS, including familiarity with
containerized microservices, serverless functions, and infrastructure automation (e.g.Terraform).
- Proficiency with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and performance-oriented data access patterns.
- Experience working with modern front-end frameworks (e.g. React, Angular, Ember) sufficient to collaborate effectively on full-stack solutions.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous architectures, distributed systems, and API driven platforms.
- Experience collaborating with data science and ML teams, including integrating analytics or ML outputs into production software.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in remote, distributed teams.
- A proactive mindset, with a willingness to mentor others, influence technical direction, and continuously improve engineering practices.

Academic Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
