This position is responsible for the registration of inpatients, emergency and outpatients onto the hospital's computerized systems. The Admitting Clerk provides visitors, patients and staff with patient information and general directions. This position is the first point of contact for patients coming into the hospital to be registered. The Admitting Clerk is required to facilitate the delivery of patients registration and information by providing a high level of support and assistance to staff and patients/families. Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or recognized equivalent required. Medical terminology coursework is required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Post-secondary education applicable to position – MOA/Unit Clerk/Admitting Clerk required, Medical Terminology - testing done prior to interview. Accurate typing speed of 40 wpm - testing done prior to interview. Strong computer skills required. Demonstrated proficiency in the English language, both written and oral required. Employs effective communication skills, promoting and adhering to excellent customer service in every interaction regardless of who it is with. Ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment, including working under pressure, adapting and responding to changing priorities and meeting deadlines. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Able to work all shifts as operationally required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent attention to detail. Previous experience working with the public or in a hospital or medical office interacting with patient information is preferred. Previous Registration experience preferred. Previous Connect Care experience preferred.
