Server/Waitstaff

The Grange of Prince Edward winery in Hillier, ON is looking for one EXPERIENCED food server / expediter with advanced wine knowledge to join our 20 person strong team. We are located on 990 Closson Rd. Our ideal candidate is attentive, ambitious, hard-working, and takes initiative.

Job Description

The Grange of Prince Edward is a cozy, vibrant, and customer-focused estate winery with a culinary program. We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Server to join our team. The ideal candidate has serving experience with excellent wine knowledge, ensuring that orders are taken from customers in a timely fashion, dishes and drinks flow seamlessly from the kitchen and bar to the tables, each customer receives a follow-up, payment is taken, and bussing is completed. As a server / wine steward, you'll play a key role in ensuring our guests receive their meals promptly and correctly, while also offering wine pairing suggestions and maintaining our high standards of service.

Responsibilities

• Act as the liaison between the kitchen and dining guests to ensure timely delivery of food and beverages.
• Check that all dishes meet the restaurant's quality and presentation standards before leaving the kitchen.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and chefs to manage order flow and prioritize dishes.
• Offer wine pairing recommendations and assist with both tourism and wine-related inquiries from guests.
• Ensure proper presentation and delivery of food, including special dietary requests and modifications.
• Maintain clean and organized expediting and bussing stations.
• Support the tasting bar team during busy shifts, helping with food running or resetting tables when necessary.
• Use Opentable effectively to the maximum of its capabilities for reservations
• Use WineryPOS to manage tables, orders, and payments
• Uphold health and safety standards at all times.

Qualifications

• Wine Knowledge: Strong understanding of wine varieties, regions, and pairings (WSET / Sommelier education is a plus, but not required).
• Prior experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment as an expediter, server, or food runner preferred.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, manage time efficiently, and quickly pivot the service model as demand requires.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• A positive attitude, a team player mindset, and a passion for hospitality.
• Ability to stand for long periods and carry food and bussing trays.
• Must be available Saturday, and Sunday.
