The Infrastructure and Platform Services team (IPS) is the backbone of EA's global gaming ecosystem, delivering the technology that powers EA's live games and player experiences. IPS provides a deep portfolio of digital platform gaming services and production infrastructure to EA's game studios. From scalable cloud solutions to AI-driven gameplay services, IPS ensures that EA's games are available anytime, anywhere for millions of players worldwide.
The Marketplace Exchange team is tasked with growing our cross-game, cross-platform digital economy and trading platform. These large-scale, always-on services power the virtual-economies of EA's network of games experienced by tens of millions of daily active users.
As a Software Engineer II, you will work with a team of engineers to build platform capabilities handling traffic from all those gamers, and drive player engagement across many of the industry's most popular titles. You will report to the Sr. Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
- You will collaborate with a team of engineers on large-scale, distributed backend services --designing, developing, and deploying new features.
- You will work with product managers to develop new features and improve the player experience through innovation and automation.
- You will be responsible for full-cycle development --from requirements to design to the execution of fully tested features.
- You will resolve defects during testing, pre-production, and live production environments.
- You will work with game studios using the services you create to deliver player-facing features.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience developing modern backend services
- 1+ years of experience working on online services at Internet scale
- Proficiency in Go programming or similar
- Experience working with cloud technologies to build SaaS applications
- Knowledge of SOLID design principals and common design patterns
- Understanding of DevOps, quality assurance, and software development lifecycle
- Understanding of Relational Databases
Bonus
- Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, AWS, MySQL/PostgreSQL, NATS, SQS, Redis
- Version control systems like Git
- Load testing, system analysis, live-service monitoring
- Domain experience in economics, commerce, online trading, or fraud
Compensation And Benefits
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES
- British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$100,000 - $139,500 CAD
In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
