About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Maintenance Manager to support the ongoing operations of General Motors' large-scale industrial facility in Oshawa. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day maintenance activities for facility systems—including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and mobile equipment—while directly managing the mobile equipment maintenance team and the parts room operation. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of equipment and infrastructure that supports plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day maintenance operations across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and mobile equipment systems
  • Lead a team of skilled trades and technicians, including those responsible for mobile equipment maintenance
  • Oversee the operation of the parts room, including inventory control, procurement, and restocking processes
  • Coordinate and assign preventive and corrective maintenance tasks using the CMMS system
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely and in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting for equipment breakdowns and facility issues as needed
  • Work closely with vendors and contractors to coordinate service and repair work
  • Monitor and report on maintenance KPIs such as equipment uptime, work order completion rates, and parts usage
  • Assist in maintaining emergency response procedures for equipment failures, power issues, and facility incidents
  • Support small-scale capital and improvement projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma, trade certification, or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a maintenance leadership role within an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and/or mobile equipment systems
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Experience with maintenance software (CMMS) for scheduling and tracking work orders
  • Solid understanding of workplace safety standards and procedures
  • Experience managing a team and working with contractors or service vendors
  • Familiarity with inventory management or storeroom operations is an asset
  • Project coordination experience is a plus
