Role Overview
The
Senior Project Engineer/Electrical Engineer
will provide multi-project leadership and process engineering technical expertise/support to the project teams, ensuring that technical excellence, cost, schedule, and contractual requirements are achieved. This individual is responsible for working within the facility engineering team on detailed execution of small to medium sized capital projects.
In addition, the
Senior Project Engineer/Electrical Enginer
will be dedicated to developing new leads and connecting with clients. This focus on business development will require the individual to partner with stakeholders in proposal writing, marketing presentations, assisting in the development of / enhancements to Kleinfelder Canada's business development strategy, and organization of internal resources for assigned prospects.
Experience & Academic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Registered as P. Eng/P.L. Eng with APEGA or PTech with ASET
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive professional project management, project engineering or discipline engineering in the oil and gas or related industry.
- Recent experience in executing multi-projects and multi-disciplined small to medium size projects.
- Familiar with relevant electrical codes (CSA, IEEE, API, ANSI, CEC).
- Familiar with the development of P&IDs, DBM's, single line diagrams, and other key design documents.
- Working knowledge of CAD design software and standards would be an asset.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs used to create reports and documents.
Responsibilities
Engineering & Project Management
- Lead and support the project and process engineering efforts to execute assigned small to medium sized projects with varying in scope and complexity; plan project resources to ensure efficient and cost effective execution adhering to budget and schedule constraints.
- Lead all client communication with respect to assigned projects and assigned clients; lead and provide guidance to members of the engineering team, including designers/draftspersons, engineers, and technicians.
- Perform detailed reviews of project process design specifications, design drawings, and standard detail drawings.
- Champion and develop specific deliverables such as work scopes, project design criteria, design basis documents, technical documents, cost estimates, schedules and other project related documents.
- Execute electrical engineering activities with the objective of meeting the defined contractual scope to the relevant codes, standards, and company procedures.
- Perform calculations including load studies, lighting levels, hazardous area classifications, junction box, distribution panel, and cable sizing.
- Stamp and issue drawings.
- Analyze technical issues within the electrical engineering discipline, aided and supported by the other specialist disciplines.
- Develop work plans and execution of strategies given schedule, budget, and scope constraints.
- Develop project design criteria, design basis, and electrical specifications.
- Develop specific electrical systems, equipment, skid and module packages design criteria, sizing, and specifications.
- Perform detailed reviews of project electrical design specifications, design drawings, and standard detail drawings.
- Provide drafters with modifications to technical drawings and work plans according to engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for design team.
- Review and ensure required corrections are completed by designers and meets project standards.
- Report to the Electrical Engineering Manager on progress of work and ensure coordination between the engineering and design team.
- Mentor and supervise junior team members.
- Assist in the development of work practices and procedures.
- Identify any slippages to schedule or budget and make changes accordingly to solve complex issues.
- Assist in the creation of other project documents such as Requests for Information, Purchase Recommendations, and P&IDs.
- Partner with stakeholders in proposal writing, marketing presentations, and organization of internal resources for assigned prospects.
- Support the business development of Kleinfelder and liaise any possible opportunities.
- Assist in creating work document packages during closeout of projects.
- Travel to field for project scoping, verification, construction support, and meeting with clients.
- Attend and host team/project meetings and client meetings.
- Completion of other relevant duties as required.
Business Development
- Develop new sales leads through cold calling, market research, etc.
- Partner with stakeholders in proposal writing, marketing presentations, and organization of internal resources for assigned prospects.
- Assist in the development of / enhancements to Kleinfelder Canada's business develop strategy; research and assist in determination of qualified target areas, projects, and clients.
- Develop/track/maintain lists of opportunities in local region.
- Support operational sales team (Client Account Managers, etc.)
- Coordinate with business development / operations group on proposals and presentations.
- Present to clients, etc. will be required.
- Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements at all times.
- Other duties as required.

POSITION CONDITIONS
- Job is performed in an office environment and travel to client offices within Kleinfelder Canada's region will be required.
