Durose Manufacturing Ltd, A leader and progressive manufacturer of fabricated Steel products, is seeking a Welding Inspector for their facility in Guelph.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Welding Inspector to join our quality team. The successful candidate will ensure all welding operations meet customer specifications through rigorous inspection, documentation, and process oversight. Performing detailed inspections of complex, custom parts, ensuring compliance with client specifications, engineering drawings, and industry standards. This role demands a meticulous eye for detail, advanced technical expertise, and the ability to adapt to the unique requirements of custom fabrication projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of custom-fabricated components, including dimensional checks, fit-up, machining, weld quality, surface finish, paint, and non-destructive testing (NDT).

  • Verify conformance to detailed engineering drawings, blueprints, client specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.

  • Perform visual and non-destructive testing (VT, MT, PT, UT) on welds in carbon steel, stainless steel, and exotic alloys.

  • Review and interpret welding procedures (WPS/PQR), drawings, and codes (ASME Section VIII, CSA W59, AWS D1.1).

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections; issue NCRs and coordinate corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and third-party inspectors (TSSA, CWB).

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and internal audits.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Completion of High School/High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Previous experience in an ISO certified fabrication environment as a weld inspector but will also consider applicants with experience as a fitter, SQE or manufacturing specialist with a wide variety of process skills.

  • 5+ years of hands-on welding inspection, surface finish evaluation, and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods (e.g., visual, ultrasonic, or magnetic particle testing) experience in a structural fabrication environment.

  • Proficient with ASME BPVC, CSA standards, and weld imperfection evaluation.

  • Strong blueprint reading, GD&T, and measurement tool skills (calipers, micrometers, etc.).

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and report-writing abilities.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:

  • CWB Level 2 or AWS SCWI.

  • Valid NDT certifications: VT Level II, MT Level II, PT Level II (CGSB or ASNT)

  • UT Level II (CGSB).

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and Lean manufacturing principles.

This opening is for Day Shift: - Mon to Thurs (6:30am to 4:00pm) Fri- (6:30am to 3:00pm) 44hrs/week however a split shift or occasional rotation of shifts may be required.
