Job Synopsis

The Finance Associate is responsible for accounts payable, donations processing, and donor database administration. The Finance Associate will work primarily in-person in the MCC Alberta office in Calgary; a hybrid remote arrangement may be considered for the right candidate.

  • Relevant education and/or experience in accounts payable and data processing.
  • Good organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Focus on accuracy and attention to detail, with flexibility to aid donors and co-workers.
  • Effective communication skills – both written and verbal, in person and over the telephone.
  • Strong relational skills – the ability to relate to people in a positive and collaborative manner.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook required. Experience using Sparkrock 365 (or equivalent accounting software), and DPO (or equivalent donor management software) preferred.
  • Respect for and maintenance of confidentiality and privacy.
  • Satisfactory criminal record check.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts payable (50%)

  • Timely processing and payment of invoices.
  • Ensures sufficient backup is maintained for accounts payable and payments.
  • Assists with the year-end audit.
  • Assists with the financial needs for Relief Sales and other events.
  • Communicates effectively with staff and outside agencies as required.
  • Other tasks and special projects in the department as time permits

Donations and donor database (50%)

  • Deposits donations and other revenue at the bank as needed.
  • Processes and records donations received (cash, cheques, credit cards, web donations, Canada Helps, CFGB imports, etc.).
  • Maintains donor database (DPO) and provides support to DPO users in the organization.
  • Prepares and sends donation tax receipts (printing letter receipts, emailing electronic receipts). Manages requests for duplicate receipts.
  • Runs weekly donations reports for the Communications & Development team.
  • Assists the Communications & Development team with donor database management and provides support for donation calls from donors.

Base salary: $55,436.53
