About This Role
As an Apprentice Funeral Director at Avalon Surrey Funeral Home located in Surrey, British Columbia,
you will have the opportunity to provide meaningful support to families on their end-of-life journey. You will be responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of funeral services under the direction of the Funeral Home Manager and Senior Funeral Director, including: filing death certificates, maintaining online obituary listings, performing decedent embalming and providing assistance during the execution of funeral services.

Key Qualifications And Demonstrated Abilities

  • Currently enrolled or seeking enrollment in a post-secondary funeral service education.
  • Passion for customer care demonstrated in previous professional experiences.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills with the ability to partner will all levels of the organization.
  • Exemplifies Arbor's values of compassion, integrity, trust, teamwork, belonging and excellence.
  • Excellent knowledge of Funeral Home procedures and business practices including Funeral Home Procedures Manuals.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Arranges, coordinates and directs funeral ceremonies.
  • Meets and surpasses the needs and expectations of the families we serve.
  • Supports licensed Funeral Directors in providing funeral services to client families.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
