SummaryThrough one-on-one intensive case management, the EXIT (EXploitation, Intervention and Transition) Program at RESET supports women as young as 16, with or without children, as they exit from sexual exploitation. RESET provides immediate and safe supportive housing allowing women to stabilize and begin the process of healing, and supports each woman's progress through transitional housing to independent living as the women graduate through the EXIT Program.
DescriptionPURPOSE OF POSITION
This position is responsible for delivering a high-quality, goal-based life-skills and recovery program, to support the success of the women and girls 16+ who are exiting sexual exploitation and trafficking in achieving their self-directed outcome goals. This position is to ensure the founding principles of RESET are met. You are in a role of support and guidance. It is part of your role to facilitate daily life-skill-based classes that aim to assist the Participants in achieving their personal goals and addressing their recovery issues. The contact you have with the Participant is significant, as you will spend each day in class, and you will carry a caseload to ensure one-to-one contact and support for goal achievement with your Participants. This position operates within a servant leadership posture and in the context of community, expressing the values and belief statements of RESET creatively within the context of the position's responsibilities.
REPORTS TO: PROGRAM MANAGER
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:
- Related Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Education, Addictions Studies, etc. *Current professional registration is required if applicable (eg: RSW), plus a minimum of 2 years of related experience
- Completion of a certificate program in addictions/concurrent disorders from an accredited educational institution preferred.
- One-year specific experience in a primary addictions/concurrent disorder setting preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the stages of change model and the ability to utilize stage-specific interventions.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement integrated treatment plans (related to relapse prevention) in collaboration with other involved service providers and community providers.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to access formal and informal community services and resources.
- Comprehensive understanding of women's issues related to poverty, sex-trafficking, homelessness, marginalization, violence, trauma, addictions, and mental health.
- Strong relational and leadership skills (coaching, group facilitation, listening, motivating, problem-solving, etc).
- General knowledge of 12-step and other recovery-based models.
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills with ability to solve problems directly and fairly.
- Ability to manage and respond appropriately to conflict.
- Strong administrative, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to demonstrate professional boundaries with Participants and others.
- Transports women to appointments.
- Ensures the safe operation and maintenance of the program van and other equipment.
- First Aid, CPR, Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check required.
- Minimum Class 5 License required with a driver's abstract showing a clean driving record with a minimum of 3 years uninterrupted insurance history.
- Experience using HMIS is an asset.
- Demonstrated Team Player.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitation of the EXIT Program Curriculum and related program component.
- Carry a caseload of up to 10 Participants, ensuring daily contact with each.
- Develop a comprehensive support/goal plan in partnership with each of your Participants.
- Support your Participant's access to treatment, therapy/counselling, medical, cultural connections, and other external resources.
- Move Participants into assigned front-line houses and ensure a smooth introduction and transition for both the Participant and Peer Mentor.
- Supervise and support classroom volunteers.
- Provide comprehensive case management for Participants dependent upon their needs.
- Attend Participant graduations, leading those for your caseload.
- Ensure all program paperwork and Participant files are kept up to date and in compliance with Accreditation Standards.
- Adheres to the Program Policies and Procedures Manual.
Participate in the Emergency Pager rotation.
Ensure an active and smooth transition to external services and community support.
- Works with program staff to ensure all active Participant files are stored, and later archived, in a secure manner which ensures their anonymity and adheres to FOIPP regulations.
- Works with the Program Manager to ensure all current versions of relevant forms and paperwork are provided and maintained appropriately (i.e. including but not limited to residence rules, live-in volunteer responsibilities for the supportive front-line housing lease agreements, counseling contracts, trainee evaluation forms, etc).
