Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Civil Engineer with a diverse background in infrastructure and/or oil and gas to join our group in Calgary. As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the team and plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of civil projects.

A Day in the Life

  • Perform civil design for a variety of projects such as infrastructure upgrades and subdivision developments, including design and construction of water, sewer, drainage, and transportation infrastructure
  • A strong background in water resources is preferred
  • Provide technical guidance to a team of EITs and designers to deliver preliminary to detailed design drawings and specifications
  • Carry out estimates of project costs, analysis and calculations, design review, preparation of reports and contract documentation
  • Interface directly with clients, team members, contractors, and others to clearly define project requirements and expectations
  • Ensure completion of work within allotted schedules and budgets to high quality standards
  • Assist in creating a work plan that includes a schedule, milestones, control, and risk factors
  • Proactively resolve performance, scope, and schedule issues as they arise

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (other disciplines encouraged to apply if practicing Civil Engineering)
  • Must be registered (or eligible to register) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in the province of Alberta
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in municipal infrastructure and/or oil and gas projects
  • Experience with modelling tools such as Infoworks, ICM, HEC-RAS, Mike Plus or similar modelling software would be considered an asset
  • Experience in hydraulic analysis and design is also considered an asset
  • Strong project management, technical and analytical skills
  • Strong technical writing skills demonstrated through experience in the preparation of correspondence, reports and proposals
  • Effective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; able to mentor and work with junior engineers and designers
  • Good organization skills and strong attention to detail
